Centralized backup and restore of VMware ESX virtual servers

The STORServer Appliance for VMware® Consolidated Backup incorporates VMware Consolidated Backup to improve manageability of backups and reduce costs by centralizing the backup of ESX servers on the STORServer. Consolidating backups of virtual machines on the STORServer also reduces resource utilization on production ESX servers, hosts and LAN during backup operations and allows the virtual machine to continue to operate without impact during backup operations.

STORServer, Inc. VMware Statement of Support

STORServer, Inc. confirms that we will support customers running the STORServer Agent for VMware Consolidated Backup on supported operating systems in a VMware virtual machine environment.

STORServer, Inc. will provide unqualified support for the STORServer Agent for VMware Consolidated Backup running in a VMware virtual environment in an identical manner as with the STORServer Agent running on any other major x86 based system without initially requiring reproduction of issues in native hardware. All support is subject to STORServer, Inc. customer support agreements and to specific constraints and exceptions described in our product documentation (including, among others, release notes, user guides and knowledge base articles). Should STORServer, Inc. suspect that the virtualization layer is the root cause of an incident; the customer will be required to contact the appropriate VMware support provider to resolve the VMware issue.

While the STORServer Agent is expected to function properly in a VMware virtual environment, there may be performance implications which can impact our typical sizing recommendations.
