VMware releases vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1b

VMware last week released an update for vCenter labeled vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1b, which contains a number of fixes and improvements. Database changes: Most notably, 1b adds support for the Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, Standard ONE Edition Release 2 [11.2.0.3] – 32- and 64-bit database product. For vCenter Appliance, VMware no longer includes DB2 Express.  DB2 Express has been replaced by the VMware vPostgres database. vSphere version support: The chart below—from VMware’s product interoperability matrix—identifies the versions of vSphere that can be managed with vCenter 5.0 U1b.
